Festival of World Cultures

Posted by Lunasa

Hi folks, just checking in after an action packed July & August.

The last 2 months have seen us perform in Italy, Spain, Ireland, England, USA & Switzerland.

This was our performance at The Festival of World Cultures with honorary Lunasa members Alan Kelly & Tola 'super sub' Custy.

Thanks to Jody, Olga & Mary for a wonderful day

It was alot of fun catching up with everyone in Dun Laoghaire.

There was a great vibe around the place. Lots of good food, drink and, of course, music.

Here's Kevin & Paul, after the gig, with our good friend Earle Hitchner.  We've ordered him a pair of the Lunasa shades!

US tour - part 1.

Posted by Lunasa

Well it has been so hectic between long drives, interviews for the new album and nuclear summits that we barely had chance to take the camera out of the bag and show you what we have been up to.

OK so we were not at the summit meeting but we did get caught up in the traffic and security around Washington. Thankfully they didn't take Cillian's pipes away for a controlled explosion!

Here we are in Dayton signing copies of Lá Nua (don't ask about the cordless drill, been some interesting thoughts about that on our facebook...might require those security guys for a little bag search Kev?)

The next show was in VA. Here we are taking time out in Colonial Williamsburg, after a great night and sold out show....

All this pressure is having an effect, poor Trev needed a sit down - fair play to ya!

Lá Nua

Posted by Lúnasa

The new album Lá Nua is now available for sale on our web site shop.
You can hear a track at www.myspace.com/lunasaofficial and more on the music player here on the home page
And this is what it looks like....

Following weeks and months of recording, mixing, photo shoots and album design (and all the stuff that goes into making a CD) we are getting closer to actually having the album in our grip!

We had the pleasure of working with a fantastic team; incredible guest musicians, Con Kelleher the photographer who took photos on the roof of the Glasgow Concert Hall in January (very cold) and Brian Hanlon the designer who has talent and patience in abundance!

The behind the scenes team are more excited about this release than ever before, they claim it's the best yet however the band are sick of hearing it! Sure all that will change once the late night memories of mixing have worn away....

So the main news for now is that we are taking pre-orders so that our loyal supporters can get the very first copies before the album hits the shops.

Natalie Merchant

Posted by Lúnasa

Apart from working on the album, we recently had the great opportunity to perform with singer Natalie Merchant in Glasgow as part of Celtic Connections.

Natalie also has a new album due for release soon so look out for it as we are among the special guests.
We had a great time both recording and performing with Natalie and as you can see from this photo a certain fiddler thought all his Christmases had come together!
Must have been something there, she even got him dancing a jig on stage at the Glasgow Concert Hall....now there is a sight you don't see everyday!

Our stars must be aligned as we recently found out our schedules fit closely together in the coming months (now who arranged that) so you never know who you might see at a Lúnasa or Natalie Merchant gig this spring...
